Are you sleeping with the enemy?
If you or anyone in your family identifies with any of the following allergy related conditions such as Asthma, Eczema, Hay Fever, Bronchitis, Inflammation of the Mucous Membranes, Itchy Red Eyes, Headaches, Sinus Pain, Fatigue, early morning fits of excessive sneezing, even a feeling of depression when you wake up, you may well be sleeping with the enemy. Who is this enemy? He's called a dust mite and we'll spare you trying to remember or even pronounce the scientific name. Dust mites live in household articles, such as furniture and carpets. Millions may inhabit one home, but they are invisible to the human eye. The dust mite feeds on shed dead skin cells. The faeces and dead bodies of mites are allergens to susceptible people, causing asthma, rhinitis or dermatitis.
Those ominous things in the picture on the right are the real trouble makers. These little creatures, not visible to the naked eye, and in fact, they're so small that as many as 1000 of them could be placed on the head of a pin. And guess where their favorite breeding spot is? Yes, that's right. . . the mattress. Their ideal home!
Why the mattress? Because it's warm, often moist, cosy, easy to burrow into and full of their favourite food...skin flakes, the skin flakes every human being sheds every day and night of his or her life, no matter what their age, sex or state of health.
And you can't vacuum them away.
FACTS:
- Approximately 85% of Asthmatics are allergic to dust mites
- Dust mites produce 200 times it's body weight in excrement during their normal life span..
- 10% of the weight of an average pillow is dead skin and dust mites
- Dust mites spread rapidly. A female dust mite lays 300 eggs.
- Protective bed covers are ineffective as a sole measure taken to combat allergy according to research by The National Asthma Campaign and the Department of Health (source: New England Journal of Medicine)

The Cleaning Process
We use a 3 step procedure which is dry, totally chemical-free and all performed on site. It is designed not only to effectively remove dust mites and their droppings, but also sterilise the mattress, kill germs and bacteria as well as neutralise odours.
1. Remove Dust Mites, Dust Mite Droppings and Other Debris
A powerful, specially engineered portable cleaning device generates incredible suction and high frequency pulsating waves. The debris is collected in a HEPA filter bag, which retains 99.97% of anything 0.3 microns or bigger.
2. Kill Dust Mites, Germs, Bacteria, Viruses and remove odours
This is combined with a germ killing high intensity UV light*, which works in unison to pulverise the dust mites, bacteria and fungal spores.
3. Neutralise Harmful Allergens
Finally we use a chemical-free deodorising and sanitising spray, which is completely harmless to humans and animals. It is entirely plant-based and requires no airing. Once the spray has evaporated, you can make the bed and go to sleep.
The process is all performed on site. It is relatively quick and lasts up to 6 months. Prices start from £20 for a cot mattress and the cleaning process can also be applied to bedding, pillows and soft furnishings. Discounts are available for multiple mattresses in residential and commercial situations. The Free Test
We offer a free test with no obligation to determine whether your mattress is contaminated and we can also check to see what the allergen content of this dust is as well. Both tests are very quick and all you have to do is turn down a corner of the bed. The decision to have our service performed will be left up to you.
First we vacuum a small corner of the mattress for just a minute, using our incredibly high powered vacuum and collect this sample in a test cloth so you can see how much we have removed. The result can sometimes be quite staggering. We can then perform another quick and free test on this sediment, and show you, using a simple colour-coded chart, the concentration of guanine present, which is the substance that triggers most allergies. The decision to have the service carried out will be up to you. To arrange an appointment please call us on 0845 094 1998.
Mattress Treatment - Your Questions Answered
Q: Is the In-home Dustmite and Allergen test you offer carried out completely free of charge and without any obligation on my part?
A: Absolutely, if your mattress is found to be contaminated we will present our findings and our cleaning recommendation. You are under no obligation whatsoever to proceed further at this stage.
Q: How long does the cleaning process take and how much do you charge?
A: It depends on the size of mattress, but between 15-20 minutes for a single mattress and about 30 minutes for a double mattress. Prices start from £20, please call for details.
Q: How long after you've finished do we have to wait before we can make the bed and go to sleep?
A: You only need to wait for the plant based spray we mist the bed with to evaporate off. So about 10-15 minutes. You can then make the bed and go straight to sleep. You don't even need to air the room unless you want to.
Q: Why can't we vacuum the mattress ourselves?
A: You can, but there are several things you should consider first. Firstly, if your vacuum cleaner doesn't have a HEPA filter bag, then too much of what you vacuum up will just blow back into the room. This could trigger an asthma attack or other allergies. Secondly, your appliance will not be as powerful as our system, or have a high frequency vibration unit. Consequently, it may do more harm than good and serve only to clog up the mattress instead of sucking everything out. Our system also incorporates a high intensity UVC radiation light and a sanitising plant based spray.
Q: Is there any mess after you finish?
A: No. We make no mess and leave the room exactly how we found it. All you will have to do is to make the bed when we leave.
Q: Can mattress cleaning cure my allergy?
A: No, it doesn't offer any cure, but it will help to reduce the severity and frequency of allergies. Many of our customers have found that their particular allergy disappears altogether and in the case of asthmatics, about 85% of sufferers are allergic to House Dust Mite droppings, so the chances of us helping an asthma sufferer is very high.
Q: What's in you spray and what does it do?
A: The spray is made from a totally renewable source, plants and minerals. There are no chemicals in it and it is non-toxic and non hazardous. It is a highly effective deodorising and sanitising spray that neutralises and renders harmless the allergens created by dust mites. It is suitable for carpets, bedding, mattresses and upholstery.
Q: How old does a mattress have to be before it is worthwhile cleaning it?
A: We have found that a new mattress, if used on a regular basis, would benefit from a clean after about 6 months use.
Q: Can an old mattress be cleaned effectively?
A: Yes, most definitely. Mattresses that are old will have much higher levels of dust mites and droppings, dead skin, fungal spores, bacteria and germs. This will also apply to hand me down ones as well. Our process is extremely effective and will make them clean and fresh again.
Q: Do protective mattress covers work?
A: There have been studies that show them not to work effectively. Also, from our experience, whenever we have tested a mattress with a protective cover, the mattress has always tested positive for contamination. However, if you have got them already or you are intending to buy some, then only use them on a brand new mattress or one that has just been cleaned and sterilised by us. If you don't, all you are doing is incubating the mould, bacteria and fungus that is already present.
